The Leadership behind CARMEN Commercial Real Estate

Chris CarmenCEO

Chris began his commercial real estate career in 1985 with Duke Realty Corporation. While at Duke, his responsibilities included office and industrial property leasing, culminating with his role as Vice President of Duke Realty Corporation’s Indiana Office Group. In 1993, he founded Carmen Commercial Real Estate Services.

His vision was to create a firm that specialized in tenant representation, free from the conflicts of interest inherent in traditional, full service brokerage firms. Since then, Carmen has represented over 400 businesses in transactions within Indiana and throughout the country.

Chris was a founding board member and served on the Board of Directors of TechPoint (previously the Indiana Software Association and Indiana Information Technology Association), Indiana’s statewide technology initiative, from 1999 to 2008. He has served on a number of nonprofit boards, including the TechPoint Foundation, a venture philanthropy organization incubating select science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) programs that impact Indiana school-aged children in underserved populations.

A native of Chicago, Chris graduated from Elmhurst College where he graduated with degrees in Finance and Business Administration. He has authored two publications: How to Search and Negotiate Office Leases and The Office Relocation Planner.

CARMEN Commercial Real Estate Services specializes in tenant representation and corporate real estate advisory services. CARMEN provides custom real estate solutions for business owners and managers whose focus can remain on their core business pursuits.

CARMEN Commercial Real Estate Services was founded 26 years ago by Chris Carmen, who had a vision different from traditional real estate brokers. A firm that represents Tenants, NEVER landlords. Throughout our 26-year history, we’ve only represented tenants. Leveling the playing field by providing companies with commercial real estate expertise that meets and often exceeds the landlord’s own skills.

Recognizing that it is impossible to serve the interests of both parties in a real estate transaction, each side has conflicting objectives, CARMEN Commercial Real Estate Services was established with a singular focus of representing the interest of tenants only…. never landlords and never real estate brokers with competing interests.

No Conflict of Interest

CARMEN does not represent landlords or sellers of commercial property.  CARMEN focuses on representing only tenants and buyers of office and industrial property, therefore, avoiding the inherent conflict of interest that occurs when commercial brokers represent the interests of both tenants and building owners.  This competitive strength is compelling and easily recognized by tenants and buyers of commercial property as being significant factor in the quality of service gained by engaging CARMEN.
